Varnado trailed just 14-6 after the first quarter, but Fontainebleau outscored VHS 28-7 in the second quarter, as Varnado was defeated 75-28 in the season opener at home Tuesday.

Jalisia Jackson led Varnado with 11 points.

Jakyra Daggs posted 10.

Myeasha Peters recorded four and Kasia McGowan tallied three.

“We need to work on getting back to defending the goal and working on our overall defensive skills,” Varnado coach Garnet Fornea said.

Varnado’s next game will take place in the Franklinton Tournament on Dec. 1-4.
