Little Rock’s Kourouma named Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Little Rock redshirt sophomore forward Sali Kourouma averaged 22.5 points per game, shooting nearly 43 percent from the field, and has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week in her first week of NCAA Division I competition.

Kourouma, a transfer from Grayson College where she was named her league’s Newcomer of the Year in 2020-21, scored 30 points in Little Rock’s 56-40 win at Vanderbilt last Friday night. Over the course of the week, she shot 42.9 percent (15-for-35) from the field and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free-throw line.

Kourouma currently ranks 18th nationally in total points (45) and 10th in free-throws made. She is 40th nationally in points per game (22.5) and field goals made (15).

Last week, she also averaged 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game in 28.5 minutes per game of action.
