Several local basketball teams competing in jamborees

Varnado High School is hosting a jamboree and others are competing in jamborees in the upcoming week.

The event at Varnado features six local teams with three schools from Washington Parish being represented.

Games start at 5 p.m. and are scheduled to run every 45 minutes except for the last game, which is 35 minutes, from the second to last game to the final contest.

The event tips off with a girls game between Independence and St. Helena College and Career Academy.

The rest of the games have at least one local team playing in them.

The next two games are between Franklinton and Pine girls and boys respectively. The girls game is set for 5:45 p.m. and the boys start at 6:30 p.m.

Varnado’s teams take the court for the next two games, as they play against First Baptist Christian School.

The girls game starts at 7:15 p.m. and the boys get under way at 7:40 p.m.

Games will feature two 12-minute halves for the girls games with a running clock until the 1:50 mark.

The boys will play two 15-minute halves with a running clock until 1:25 is showing on the clock.

Bogalusa’s boys team will play in a jamboree at Salmen.

Their game starts at 5:30 p.m. against Pope John Paul II.

Bogalusa’s girls team will play at Hammond.

They will play at 6:20 p.m. against Hammond and 6:40 when they face Albany.

Mt. Hermon School’s boys and girls teams have already played in jamborees.
