Haylli Roe and Mya Guillory won Southland Players of the Week honors for the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s soccer team following Friday’s 4-0 shutout of Nicholls, the league office announced Sunday.

Roe, a sophomore, earned Southland Defensive Player of the Week. The Humble, Texas native assisted on two of SLU’s four goals in Friday’s win including the first goal of the match to Guillory. Roe was also named Southland Player of the Week Oct. 5^th following SLU’s 2-1 win at Louisiana Tech.

Guillory, the Southland’s Offensive Player of the Week, scored her team-leading fifth goal and assisted on another for SLU. The Prairieville, Louisiana native netted the goal on a great cross from Roe just minutes into the match. Then assisted on the team’s fourth goal of the match, a cross to Makenzie Maher. Guillory also received Offensive Player of the Week recognition last season after scoring the golden goal against Lamar in the season opener March 12.

Southeastern had six different players earn the Southland weekly honor this year, including goalkeeper Nadine Maher, defenders Darby Gillette and Roe, midfielder Claire Huston and forwards Makenzie Maher and Mya Guillory.

The Lady Lions (6-8-3, 4-5-3 Southland) will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night at 7 p.m. in the first round of the 2021 Southland Conference Tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas.
