Students at Baker High School in Mobile, Ala., recently held a food drive for the victims of Hurricane Ida.

Because of ties to the community, Dr. David Gill and his son, Chandler, delivered nearly 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Bogalusa Help Center earlier this month.

Gill is a former Music Director at Memorial Baptist Church in Bogalusa. His son, Chandler, is Senior Class President and Drum Major for Baker High School, which has more than 3,000 students.

“Words simply cannot express how much this donation is appreciated by BHC,” said BHC volunteer president Gene Hayman. “The mission of the Help Center is to help the food insecure in our community. These 2,000 pounds will go a long way in feeding the 400-plus families who they serve each month.”

Bogalusa Help Center is located at 350 Martin Luther King Drive and is open every Wednesday (except the fifth Wednesday of the month) from 8 a.m. until noon. For more information, BHC may be reached at 985-735-6404 every Wednesday morning.
