The Pearl River men’s and women’s basketball programs recently announced their 2021-22 schedules. The women will play 23 games while the men will compete in 21.  Single-game and season ticket packages can be purchased at PRCCAthletics.com/tickets.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Wildcats open the season with back-to-back home contests against William Carey JV on Nov. 1 and Baton Rouge on Nov. 3.

PRCC hits the road for the first time on Nov. 11 against Baton Rouge before returning home to take on archrival Gulf Coast in a non-conference game on Nov. 15.

Pearl River rounds out its non-conference schedule with two road games and a home contest. The road games are Southern University-Shreveport on Nov. 20 and Delgado on Nov. 22. Delgado then travels to Marvin R. White Coliseum on Nov. 30.

The Wildcats open conference play Dec. 2 at East Central before returning home to take on Hinds Dec. 6.

Right into the new year, Pearl River hits the road to take on Itawamba on Jan. 6 before hosting Meridian on Jan. 10.

The Wildcats travel to Gulf Coast on Jan 13. And hosts Northwest Jan. 18.

PRCC takes another road trip on Jan. 20 as it travels to Southwest.

The Wildcats round out the month by hosting Copiah-Lincoln on Jan. 24, traveling to East Mississippi on Jan. 27 and hosting Holmes on Jan. 31.

Pearl River travels to rival jones College on Feb. 3 and plays host to Mississippi Delta on Feb. 7.

PRCC hits the road for the last time on Feb. 10 to take on Northeast before playing their last home game on Feb. 17 against Coahoma.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The women’s program opens the year with consecutive road games against Gadsden State on Nov. 5 and Snead State on Nov. 6.

The Wildcats then host Snead State and Gadsden State on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, respectively.

After a quick one-game road trip to Delgado on Nov. 15, Pearl River rounds out the month against Southern University-Shreveport on Nov. 20 and Delgado on Nov. 30.

PRCC opens conference play at home against East Central on Dec. 2.

Pearl River takes a three-game road trip afterwards facing Hinds on Dec. 6, Eastern Florida State on Dec. 10 and Northwest Florida State on Dec. 11.

On Jan. 6, the Wildcats host Itawamba before traveling to Meridian on Jan. 10.

Archrival Gulf Coast makes the short trip to Poplarville on Jan. 11 and the Wildcats hit the road to take on Northwest Jan. 18.

After hosting Southwest on Jan. 30, the Wildcats travel to Copiah-Lincoln on Jan. 24.

For the last two games of the month, East Mississippi comes to Poplarville on Jan. 27 and PRCC goes to Holmes on Jan. 31.

Pearl River’s last four games of the season are home against Jones College Feb. 3, on the road at Mississippi Delta Feb 7., home against Northeast Feb. 10 and on the road against Coahoma Feb. 17.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
The Wildcat women’s program is coming off a 5-4 season in which they were hampered by cancellations. The team returns several impact players, including Otashae Burrage (Carthage; Leake County), Ty’Mesha Reed (Meridian), Brandy Scott (Hammond, La.), Keshunti Nichols (Pearl), Alesha Temple (Oak Grove), Marcavia Shavers (Biloxi) and Bryanna Taylor (Terry).

Pearl River is also bolstered by the addition of Northwestern State transfers Anessa Dussette (Houston, Tx.; Manvel) and Tristen Washington (Gonzales, La.; East Ascension).

The Pearl River men’s program returns a loaded roster fresh off a 12-2 season which saw it claim a share of the MACCC Championship.

The Wildcats return three third-year players in Jariyon Wilkens (Biloxi), Jaronn Wilkens (Biloxi) and Earl Smith (Jackson; Lanier). Wilkens was named an All-America Honorable Mention at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats also return Cameron Brown (Hattiesburg) and Ankerion Gross (Sardis; North Panola) who were starters for much of last season. Newcomers are highlighted by Dandy Dozen selection Carlous Williams (Gulfport; West Harrison) and 6-foot-9 Northwest Florida State transfer Brison Waller (Cleveland, Oh.; Garfield Heights).

The Wildcats were receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I preseason poll.
