Pearl River football’s Justin Jefferson named MACCC Defensive Player of the Week

Pearl River football standout Justin Jefferson has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Defense Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats narrow 28-22 loss against No. 1 Jones College.

Jefferson helped the Wildcat defense hold the Bobcats to their lowest yardage total of the season in the game.

The freshman tallied a team-high 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries.

Jefferson has been a force on the defensive side of the ball this season, tallying 45 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries and one pass breakup.

Jefferson is the second Wildcat football player to be recognized by the MACCC, joining Tony Brown (Hurley; East Central) who claimed the offensive award one week ago.
