Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Eagles were defeated by Newton County Academy, 52-20, in a District 2A2 game that was held on Friday at Newton.

“I’ve seen a little fire out of our boys this past week that I haven’t seen since the beginning of the season,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Destin Pittman said. “We played good solid football to start the game and then we started hurting ourselves with penalties, turnovers and blown coverages. We want to go into this week with a clear mind and finish the season off with a high note. We are very capable of winning Friday. It just all depends on what team we have show up Friday night. I would love to see our boys come out and play a solid four quarters of football to the best of their ability. If we do that we will walk away with a victory Friday night.”

Ben’s Ford is 1-6 overall and 1-2 in district.

Newton is 6-2 overall. Friday’s game was Newton’s final league contest. They finished 5-0 in league play and have clinched the district title with the win on Friday.

Last Friday, Gage Adams ran for 94 yards and a touchdown. He also caught four passes for 51 yards. Defensively, Adams led the team in tackles with 10.5 to go with a half of a tackle for a loss.

Trey Hartzog rushed for 70 yards and a score.

Tucker Pittman had 40 yards and a touchdown.

Ein Knight threw for 87 and ran for 35.

Jonah Holston made three catches for 41 yards.

Aaron Forbes posted a catch for 10 yards.

Nate Descant had three catches for 8 yards.

Brantley Dyess made five stops with two for a loss.

Jonah Williams posted 4.5 tackles and 1.5 were behind the line.

Martin Mizell tallied 2.5 tops with one for a loss.

Alex Stogner had 1.5 tackles with a half of one behind the line.

Ben’s Ford Christian School’s next game will take place on Friday with a contest against Kemper Academy at home.

Kemper comes in with a 1-6 overall record and 1-3 mark in district.

Kemper was off last week, but played two weeks ago and lost to Newton, 52-14.

Ben’s Ford and Kemper Academy met last year and Ben’s Ford won, 74-30.
