Fair midway tickets
Magee Financial offices and other businesses will be selling Washington Parish Fair midway tickets during regular business hours from now until Tuesday, Oct. 19. Magee Financial offices are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The cost of the advance sale tickets is $25 for a sheet of 40 tickets, and only cash will be accepted. The cost for single tickets bought on the midway during the fair will be $1 each, or $27 for a sheet of 30 tickets. Armbands and rodeo tickets will not be part of this advance sale. Locations selling the advance midway tickets include: Bogalusa — Magee Financial, Hancock Whitney Bank and Nielsen’s City Drug Store; Franklinton — Magee Financial, Parish Credit and Hancock Whitney Bank; Kentwood — Magee Financial; and Covington — Magee Financial.

Bogalusa Open Market
The Bogalusa Parks Recreation and Culture Commission will be holding the Bogalusa Open Market on Saturday, Oct. 2. This event will be similar to the city-wide garage sale in Abita Springs. The market will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B. Opportunities include garage sale booths, vendor booths, food booths and interactive map advertising. Book giveaway
Bogalusa resident John Gallaspy is selling his house at 1737 Gaylord Drive, and is trying to find homes for hundreds of books — some of which were published in the 1800s and others whose print is hardly dry. There will be fiction), non-fiction, historical, biographical, poetry, short story, humorous, interior design, children’s books and much more. Browsers are invited to this giveaway, which will begin Sunday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. at 1737 Gaylord Drive. Gallaspy will also have limited copies of his book, “The City That Refused to Die,” and will sign them for those who might wish to have a copy. Due to a water leak, bathroom facilities cannot be provided. Please wear masks while inside the house.

Isabel Cemetery committee meeting
Isabel Baptist Church will have its annual cemetery committee meeting on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Cemetery donations can be mailed to “Isabel Cemetery Inc., 53330 Parker Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427.”

Debris pickup deadline
The city government of Bogalusa has advised that the last day to put debris on the roadway for pick up is Monday, Oct. 4. Debris placed on city roadways after that date will not be picked up until November. Debris must be separated into three piles — vegetation, construction and “white goods.”
