Little Rock’s Cardinal, Coastal Carolina’s Wise-Sweat tabbed Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week

Little Rock’s Spencer Cardinal and Coastal Carolina’s Amilia Wise-Sweat each ran personal-best times last weekend and claimed Sun Belt Cross Country Runner of the Week honors.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Trojans’ sophomore Spencer Cardinal ran the third-fastest 8K time in program history last Saturday, posting a mark of 24:21.2 at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas. Cardinal’s time, a personal-best by more than 90 seconds, came as he led the Trojans for the second consecutive meet. Cardinal finished 14th overall at the meet as he ran the fastest time by any Sun Belt athlete last week.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Amilia Wise-Sweat, Coastal Carolina
(Fr., Newburgh, N.Y.)

Chanticleers’ true freshman Amilia Wise-Sweat ran a personal-best time of 18:48 in the women’s 5K event at the Queens City Invite in Charlotte, N.C., to pace the Coastal Carolina women’s team to an 11th-place finish out of 32 teams.
