Bogalusa broadband information meeting
State Rep. Malinda White will host a Broadband Information Meeting to be held Friday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m. in the Bogalusa City Hall courtroom. Attendees will hear from guest speaker Veneeth Iyengar, who is the executive director at the Louisiana Office of Broadband and Connectivity. He will discuss the GUMBO Grant Program and take questions from the audience concerning broadband.

Franklinton broadband information meeting
State Sen. Beth Mizell will host a Broadband Information Meeting to be held Friday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, located at 950 Self St. in Franklinton. Attendees will hear from guest speaker Veneeth Iyengar, who is the executive director at the Louisiana Office of Broadband and Connectivity. He will discuss the GUMBO Grant Program.

Past Masters Night
Past Masters Night for all Past Masters of Pine Masonic Lodge #264/Varnado Lodge #461 will be held at the next Regular Stated Meeting on Friday night, Oct. 1. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the Open Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Bogalusa Open Market
The Bogalusa Parks Recreation and Culture Commission will be holding the Bogalusa Open Market on Saturday, Oct. 2. This event will be similar to the city-wide garage sale in Abita Springs. The market will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B. Opportunities include garage sale booths, vendor booths, food booths and interactive map advertising. Isabel Cemetery committee meeting
Isabel Baptist Church will have its annual cemetery committee meeting on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Cemetery donations can be mailed to “Isabel Cemetery Inc., 53330 Parker Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427.”

Downtown Street Festival
The Downtown Street Festival presented by the Bogalusa Historic Cultural District will be Saturday, Oct. 16, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. The event will feature live music, Louisiana cuisine, artisan vendors, an antique car show presented by Open Road Cruisers, a silent art auction at Riverstone Gallery, and art contests hosted by the YMCA. Mike Shepherd, president of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, will serve as emcee for the event. Bring a lawn chair to the grassy lawn in front of The Daily News to enjoy this benefit concert free to the public. Scheduled acts in the music line-up include Randy Jackson of Zebra, A Tribute to Led Zeppelin; The Chad Harry Experience; The Rezonators; Claire Kellar; and a street performance by saxophonist Steve Burke. If you are interested in volunteering, there will be a planning meeting at Bogalusa Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. There are limited VIP sponsorships available. 4-H enrollment now open
Washington Parish 4-H enrollment is now open online. Use the link, https://v2.4honline.com. Each family will only need one account to register all youth and adults who want to volunteer. Washington has been chosen as 1 of 17 parishes in the state to pilot this new registration system. So, while things make look a little different, we no longer have to worry about those paper copies being lost between school and home. All fees will be paid at school, as in the past. 4-H is offered in every public and private school in our parish, along with the Clover Explorers Homeschool Club. American Legion bingo
Bingo is back at the American Legion building every Thursday. Masks are not required. Doors open at 5 p.m.
