The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team faces its last test before Southland Conference play commences, traveling to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a 6 p.m. nonconference matchup with Southern Miss.

Admission for the match at USM’s Volleyball Wellness Center is free. Live stats and a video stream on CUSA.tv will also be available. Links to video and stats can be found on the volleyball schedule page at LionSports.net.

Originally scheduled for Hammond, SLU (0-10) agreed to move the match to Southern Miss (8-5) in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

The Lady Lions’ leading attackers this season are Cicily Hidalgo (3.43 k/set) and Karlee Wilkerson (2.55 k/set), a senior from Springfield, Louisiana. Hidalgo, the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, sits atop the Southland charts with 144 kills and 10.29 attacks per set.

Gracie Duplechein (7.05 a/set), a freshman from St. Amant, Louisiana, and Ariana Hebert (3.47 a/set), a junior from Lafayette, have shared setting duties. Duplechein ranks fifth in the conference in assists.

Ansley Tullis, a sophomore libero from Slidell, Louisiana, leads the team with 4.02 digs per set, ranking sixth in the Southland. Hannah Brewer, a freshman outside hitter from Benton, Arkansas, ranks seventh in the conference in blocks (0.96 b/set).

Southeastern dropped a trio of five-setters this past weekend against South Dakota State, Drake and Idaho at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Brookings, South Dakota.

USM swept through three matches this past weekend at its own Southern Miss Classic II, notching victories over Eastern Kentucky, Lamar and Chattanooga.

The Golden Eagles are led by Mia Wesley (3.43 k/set, 20 aces), Kenzie Smith (10.33 a/set), Cara Atkinson (0.91 b/set) and Aliah Giroux (4.04 d/set).

This spring the teams split a doubleheader in Hattiesburg. Southeastern won the first match, 3-1, before ultimately falling in five sets, 3-2, in the nightcap.
