Martha Ann Wallace Magee and Len B. Magee, married for 70 years, passed from this Earth into Jesus’s arms one week apart. Martha Ann passed away on Sept. 12, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Columbia, Miss., and moved to Bogalusa in her childhood. She graduated Bogalusa High School in 1950. Martha Ann will always be remembered for her unconditional love to all who knew her and a smile that radiated her fun-loving mischievous spirit. She worked at The Daily News and Crown Zellerbach in her early adulthood, but her passion was teaching children. She served many years teaching through church and Head Start and touched so many lives through her passion for and dedication to serving others.

Len passed away on Sept. 19, 2021, at the age of 93. He was born Aug. 14, 1928, and had lived his entire life in Bogalusa. He graduated Bogalusa High School in 1945 and attended Louisiana College. Len will always be remembered for his quirky humor and love of trivia and unusual facts. Len worked for Gaylord and was a truck driver for 31 years and so proud to be part of the Million Mile Club. The Lord blessed Him with a great talent and he absolutely loved everything about music. He served as Minister of Music at Memorial Baptist Church for 30 years and served an interim director for many churches in the area after his retirement. He is now rejoicing with the heavenly choirs.

Martha Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Doris and John Robert Wallace. She is survived by her brothers, John H. Wallace and Bobby S. Wallace, and many nieces and nephews.

Len was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Donies and Novie Pierce Magee; and four siblings, Augusta Wood, Gwendolyn Miller, Wanzie Kirkpatrick and Lyman Magee. He is survived in death by many nieces and nephews.

Martha Ann and Len are survived in death by three daughters and their families, Joy and Clint Warner, Jennifer and Todd Applewhite (Kayla, Aaron, Aubrey), Christen and Kevin Hart (Alayna, Liam), Maybrie Magee — Mandy and B.G. Miller (Cameron, Peyton, Bre’Anna), Shanna and Adam Magee (Parker, Evelyn), and Novie Doris and Dustyn Tysdal — Allyson Stogner, Chris Tysdal, John Tysdal, Andie Stogner, Lauren Tysdal.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home at noon. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
