The Southeastern Louisiana University women’s soccer team continues their torrid road swing Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they take on Houston Baptist at Campbell Road Sports Park.

The Lady Lions (1-5, 0-2 Southland) haven’t played a home match since Aug. 27 when they defeated Alcorn State. Southeastern was forced to relocate to Beaumont, Texas following Hurricane Ida’s impact on the area back on Aug. 29.

Southeastern will be eyeing their first Southland Conference and road victory of the season as they take on HBU (0-5-2, 0-0-1) Thursday. The Lady Lions dropped a pair of matches on the road to conference foes McNeese and Northwestern State last weekend by a score of 1-0 in both games.

SLU is led by Makenzie Maher, the reigning Southland Newcomer of the Year, with three goals on the season. Juniors Mya Guillory and Ellie Williams are each second with two netted goals.

The Lady Lions have won the last two meetings against HBU including a 2-0 win last season at home with Maher and Former Lady Lion Hitomi Konno scoring for SLU. However, the Huskies lead the all-time series 7-2-2 defeating SLU twice in the Southland Tournament.

The Huskies are paced by senior Avery Cortez who leads the team with two goals. While HBU is looking for their first win of the year, they are coming off a 1-1 tie in the Southland opener last Friday night at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Fans can follow Thursday’s match as a live stats link will be available at the Southeastern soccer schedule page located at LionSports.Net.
