Scott, Dixon earn national recognition; Scott garners LSWA Player of the Week

Nicholls State University football quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. and wide receiver Dai’Jean Dixon received honorable mention for Stats Perform FCS Offensive Player of the Week, while Scott was named top offensive player in Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).

The duo teamed up to break or tie three program single-game records in the 27-24 loss against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Saturday night. Scott set a record with 480 yards of total offense, racking up a career-high 359 passing and 121 rushing. Dixon hauled in a record 14 receptions and tied the Colonel single-game high of 198 yards receiving.

Scott completed 26 of 37 passes for a 70 percent clip and tossed three touchdown passes. Dixon was the beneficiary of two of the scores, while K.J. Franklin had the other. On the ground, Scott carried the ball 18 times for his third career 100-yard game. He accounted for 480 of the Colonels’ 511 yards of total offense.
