Community-wide cemetery clean-up
The Bogalusa Cemetery Commission is looking for volunteers for a community-wide cemetery cleanup at Bogalusa Cemetery and Ponemah Cemetery. It will be Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning at 8 a.m. For any questions, call president Carolyn Peters at 985-516-2631 or vice president Elder Arthur Mixon at 985-516-9206.

4-H enrollment now open
Washington Parish 4-H enrollment is now open online. Use the link, https://v2.4honline.com. Each family will only need one account to register all youth and adults who want to volunteer. Washington has been chosen as 1 of 17 parishes in the state to pilot this new registration system. So, while things make look a little different, we no longer have to worry about those paper copies being lost between school and home. All fees will be paid at school, as in the past. 4-H is offered in every public and private school in our parish, along with the Clover Explorers Homeschool Club. Bogalusa Open Market
The Bogalusa Parks Recreation and Culture Commission will be holding the Bogalusa Open Market on Saturday, Oct. 2. This event will be similar to the city-wide garage sale in Abita Springs. The market will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B. Opportunities include garage sale booths, vendor booths, food booths and interactive map advertising. Housing vouchers
The Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program is available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Through EHV, the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is providing 70,000 housing choice vouchers to local Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) to assist individuals and families who are: homeless; at risk of homelessness; fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking; or were recently homeless or have a high risk of housing instability.
