The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball program heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico for three matches, Friday and Saturday, in the UNM Classic against New Mexico, UC San Diego and Seattle.

SLU (0-4) will face the host Lobos (6-0) at 1:30 p.m. CDT Friday and UC San Diego (0-6) later that afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in The Pit, one of the most historic collegiate arenas in the nation. The Lady Lions wrap up their participation Saturday at 11 a.m. against Seattle (1-6).

The match against New Mexico will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and all matches will have live stats provided. Links to each are available on the volleyball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern, which is looking for its first win of the season, returns to action after dropping matches to Cal State Fullerton and Auburn this past Friday in an impromptu round-robin tournament at Auburn, Ala.

The Lady Lions leading attackers this season are Cicily Hidalgo (2.81 k/set) and Karlee Wilkerson (2.19 k/set), a senior from Springfield, Louisiana. Hidalgo, a freshman from Opelousas, Louisiana, ranks fifth in the Southland Conference in kills.

Gracie Duplechein (4.06 assists/set), a freshman from St. Amant, Louisiana, and Ariana Hebert (3.80 a/set), a junior from Lafayette, have shared setting duties.

Ansley Tullis, a sophomore libero from Slidell, Louisiana, leads the team with 3.50 digs per set, ranking seventh in the Southland.

Preseason All-Conference selection Crispin Adams, a junior from Brookshire, Texas, is tied for the team lead with three services aces (Hebert, Tullis) and 10 total blocks (India Bennett, Wilkerson). She also ranks fourth in kills (1.69) per set.

New Mexico, which leads the nation in opponent hitting percentage (.031), is one of six teams nationally that has yet to drop a single set this season. UC San Diego, in its first year of a transition to Division I, took both New Mexico State and Marist to five sets during the Tritons’ first two matches of the season.

Seattle picked up a three-set win over Air Force this past weekend at the Gonzaga Invitational and has dropped a pair of five-setters to Idaho State and Montana during the season’s first couple of weeks.

The Lady Lions are facing all three schools for the first time in program history.
