App State’s Smith, UTA’s Arntsen named Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week

App State’s Daniel Smith and UTA’s Anne Arntsen earned Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week honors after impressive opening performances in the first week of the season.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Daniel Smith, App State
(Gr., Murfreesboro, Tenn.)

Mountaineers’ graduate transfer Daniel Smith, in his first meet after transferring from UT-Martin, paced App State at the Covered Bridge Open with a seventh-place finish and a time of 25:33.53 (8K). One of six App State student-athletes in the top-25, Smith helped his team finish second out of 12 at the season-opening event.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Anne Arntsen, UTA
(Fr., Grimstad, Norway)

Mavs’ freshman Anne Arntsen opened her collegiate career with a second-place finish at the UIW Twilight with a time of 14:06 (4K). One of four top-10 finishers for UTA, Arntsen helped lead her team to a second-place finish at the season-opening event.
