No. 17 Pearl River freshman goalkeeper Aníta Guðmundsdóttir (Kópavogur, Iceland.; Flensborg) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced recently.

Guðmundsdóttir landed the award after a phenomenal performance in her much-anticipated Wildcat debut. In a matchup with then No. 2 Holmes, Guðmundsdóttir allowed just one goal while making 12 saves. Holmes had averaged four goals per game before the matchup with the Wildcats. Two specific moments stand out from the debut performance for Guðmundsdóttir, as she made a huge stop diving to her right on a first half penalty kick and then stopped another point-blank attempt in the second half.

RANKINGS DEBUT
After Pearl River’s performance against Holmes, the Wildcats (1-1 overall) broke into the NJCAA rankings for the first time under the guidance of Henrik Madsen at No. 17.
