Makenzie Maher was named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s soccer team after SLU’s historic 11-0 win over Alcorn State Friday night at home, the league office announced Tuesday.
Maher, a sophomore, scored a pair of goals for SLU with one coming in the 21st minute and the other in the 53rd. The Denham Springs, Louisiana native finished the match with six shots and three on goal as she netted her sixth and seventh career goals for the Lady Lions.
Maher helped SLU in tying a 15-year record for their largest margin of victory in program history. Southeastern defeated Alcorn State, 11-0, on Sept. 27, 2006.
