Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were deployed in full force starting Monday morning, responding to emergencies and searching for all who need help in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, according to a WPSO Facebook post.
WPSO officials noted that cell service and phone lines are down in many areas, including 911 and our phone lines. If you are able to call, emergency calls can be made to 985-335-8516. If you have access to the internet, you can attempt to message the WPSO via its Facebook page.
“Many of you have not heard from loved ones in many hours, and we know you are concerned,” the post reads. “We will be spread out across the parish seeking to help those in need wherever we find them. We ask that you restrict calls to us to known emergencies, so as not to tie up our lines. If you are calling in, please be patient and keep dialing if the signal is busy.”
