On Aug. 10, 2021, Mr. Lee “Scott” Kinchen passed away at New Orleans VA Medical Center.

Mr. Kinchen was an active member in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. His military service began Oct. 1, 1988, and he retired as SSG on Aug. 29, 2013. Decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons awarded or authorized included: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with two service stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border with one oak leaf cluster, AF Longevity Service, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with two “M” Devices with one hourglass device, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one service star, AF Training Ribbon and NATO Medal. At the time of his death, he was also enrolled in college to become a drone pilot.

He is survived by his mother, Bonita “Bonnie” Montero Cothern; siblings, Wendi Kinchen (Dennis) Raether, nephew, Colby Lee (Michelle) Kinchen, Bridgette (Tim) Shaw, Megan Kinchen, and Julie Williams (Alan); two great-nephews, Jackson Lee Kinchen, Jameson Ford Kinchen, and nephew, Stetson Shaw; two nieces, Lorelei Shaw and Sophia Kinchen; two pugs, Tucker and Miles; and a host of other family and friends. He also served as a father figure to several throughout his life.

Mr. Kinchen was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Douglas Kinchen; and brother, Blake Anthony Kinchen; and his two pugs, Milo and Stewie.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with all final arrangements. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 19, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. Bro. Fred Brumfield officiated services in the chapel. Interment was Friday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at Southeast Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
