COVID vaccination event
Love Outreach Family Worship Church will be partnering with Our Lady of the Angels Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to host a COVID-19 vaccination event at the church, located at 152 Louisiana Highway 21 South in Bogalusa. Booster shots will be available, as well as the initial vaccinations. There will be entertainment and refreshments available. For more information, call 985-516-8655. The Community Action Organization will be assisting with providing rides to those who need transportation to the event.

YMCA Golf Classic
The 17th annual YMCA Golf Classic will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Bogalusa Country Club. The two-person scramble costs $100 per golfer. The fee includes carts, green fees, mulligans and lunch. Carts are limited, so if you have one, you are asked to bring it. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with tee time for 9 a.m. and lunch being served at 11 a.m. This is the YMCA’s annual fundraiser. For more information, call 985-732-3741.

Parish Fair Queen meeting
Washington Parish Fair Queen Abby Stogner and the Fair Queen Committee cordially invite young ladies between the ages of 17 and 22 interested in becoming Washington Parish Fair Queen to attend an official informational meeting on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. at the annex of the Varnado Store Museum in Franklinton, located at 936 Pearl St.

Cupcakes and Canines
The Washington Parish Animal Shelter and Tractor Supply Company are hosting “Cupcakes and Canines,” an event that includes free pupcakes (cupcakes for your pets), low cost vaccinations, microchipping, paw print painting, and local vendors. Most of all, dogs and cats will be available for adoption. The event will be on Friday, Sept. 3, at the animal shelter, located at 23046 YACC Road, from noon until 6 p.m.

Chicken dinner fundraiser
A chicken dinner fundraiser sponsored by Centenary United Methodist Church in Franklinton to benefit Vidalia United Methodist Church (whose building burned) and the Kenya Uniform Drive will be held Sunday, Aug. 29. Dinner can be picked up at Centenary from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the church office or at Leader Printing (985-839-2261).

Bogalusa Open Market
The Bogalusa Parks Recreation and Culture Commission will be holding the Bogalusa Open Market on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B.
