Broadband information meeting Wednesday at courthouse

A broadband information meeting to discuss the GUMBO grant program will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom at the Washington Parish Courthouse, located at 908 Washington St. in Franklinton.

GUMBO stands for Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities, and the program has set aside $180 million in federal funds to provide broadband and internet access to 400,000 households statewide.

A special guest at the meeting will be Veneeth Iyengar, executive director of the Louisiana Office of Broadband and Connectivity.
