Victor Gabriel Haik Jr., a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Aug. 12, 2021, in Covington, at the age of 77.

Mr. Haik graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1961, where he played football. Mr. Haik was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1819 and a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus Assembly 2206. He also was on the YMCA Board of Directors and a little league coach for Northeast Athletic Association for over 20 years. He taught NRA Concealed Weapons Courses, was a member of the Italian-American Club and retired from the Gaylord Container Corporation as a machinist. Mr. Haik was a Eucharistic minister and an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Mr. Haik loved to hunt deer and duck and fish with his sons and grandchildren. Papa took pride in helping his grandchildren get their first deer and he thoroughly loved being surrounded by his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing and writing stories. Mr. Haik was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Haik is survived by his wife, Verna Haik; his children, Tim (Jennifer) Haik, Vicki (Stacey) Boone, Russ (Amber) Haik and Becky (Shawn) Darrah; and his grandchildren, Ashley Boone, Zack Boone, Caroline Haik, Katherine Haik, Lauren Haik, Logan Haik, Patrick Darrah, Victoria Darrah, Sophia Darrah and Luke Darrah; and great-grandchild, Abigail Grice.

Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 16, from 9:30 a.m. until time for the services at noon, with a Rosary being held at 10:30 A.M. at Annunciation Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
