Mrs. Betty Lewis, a resident of San Juan, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 9, 2021. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter, Robin Shields.

Mrs. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles D. Lewis. The Rev. Lewis pastored several churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. He and Mrs. Lewis also served as missionaries in remote villages of Mexico for 15 years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Iddo Jordan Crain and Vera Lucinda Corkern Crain. Mrs. Betty will be remembered in this area as a piano teacher for 40 years. She also taught the Berea Bible Class for 26 years.

Mrs. Betty is survived by her three children, Dane (Shirley) Lewis of Bogalusa, Bonnie Lewis of Franklinton, and Robin (Rick) Shields of Coahuila, Mexico; her six grandchildren, Lesley Galloway, Andrew Shields, Rebecca Herrera, Matthew Shields, Ethan Shields and John Nastasi Jr.; and also her 27 great-grandchildren, and special friends, Raymond and Nancy Lozano of Fort Worth, Texas.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at Ponemah Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Shields officiating. Pallbearers for Mrs. Betty will be Matthew Shields, Ethan Shields, Nate Herrera and Thomas Herrera.
