A Franklinton man was found guilty Thursday, July 22, of killing a pregnant woman and attempting to kill a man.

Dana Williams, 30, of Franklinton, was found guilty in St. Helena Parish of first-degree murder, first-degree feticide with specific intent to kill, and attempted first-degree murder.

Williams was initially arrested in 2017 after a report of a shooting in Greensburg.

According to media reports about the incident, when police got there, they discovered a vehicle riddled by bullets.

A woman who had gunshot wounds and was showing no signs of life was reportedly inside the vehicle, when police arrived. During the investigation, police learned that a man was at a local hospital with injuries that were consistent of gunshot wounds. That man, Delvecio Torrence, reportedly later identified Williams as the shooting suspect.

On Aug. 31, 2017, a warrant was issued for Williams’ arrest for the murder of the woman, Angela Leray, as well as her unborn child. Williams turned himself in at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and later transported to the St. Helena Parish Jail, where he was taken into custody.

Williams is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 10 at 9 a.m., in front of Judge Charlotte Foster.
