“The Lord is my Light and my Salvation whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my Life, of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalms 27:1).

A Godly Life ended on Thursday, July 15, 2021, when Sister Helen Page McKenzie was taken from us. We look upon death as sad occasion but the death of a Christian is a glorious time.

Sister Helen Page McKenzie was born April 13, 1935, to the union of the late Charles and Vera Lundie. She departed this life at her residence in Bogalusa. She was reared in Rio, and later the family moved to Bogalusa in 1958.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Otha Page, and this union was blessed with five children.

She joined St. John Elizabeth Temple under the leadership of Bishop John Wesley White. Helen was employed for 34 years at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Bogalusa.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Gwendolyn (James) Lundie; grandchildren, Lashatelle (Alex) Costley of Baton Rouge, Ingrid Lundie of Bogalusa, Kentrell (Natarvia) Lundie of McDonough, Ga., Jasmine, Janay and Maurice (Tranae) Lundie, all of Atlanta, Ga., La Jarah’a, Tevoris, Shylandar and Aleia Pam; a special great-granddaughter she helped rear, Anjal M. Pam; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Ida Faye Lundie of Atlanta; two brothers, Robert Lundie of Bogalusa and Johnny Lundie of Slidell; two daughters-in-law, Evelyn Weary and Valerie Gray; a sister-in-law, Georgie Lundie; special friends, Ciellie Bell Forbes, Sylvia Lewis, Bessie Carter, Verdene Jackson and Johnnie D. Sykes, just to name a few; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members and friends.

Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Otha Page and William “Duke” McKenzie; her parents, Charles and Vera Lundie; four sons, Kenneth and James Lundie and Larry and Mark Page; a grandson, Perry “Stank” Lundie; and five brothers, Henry, Edward, Clyde, Mac and Ray Lundie.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at the St. John Elizabeth Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Elder Eric Clayton officiating. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
