During the Fourth of July festivities, visitors and families far and near enjoyed a new and fresh facelift — brand new striping in the 200 block of Louisiana Avenue. This safety preventive measure has always been a concern of Bogalusa District A Councilwoman Gloria Kates, and every effort has been made to accomplish this goal before and since April, she said.

Kates said that this task was accomplished with the assistance of Washington Parish President Richard Ned Thomas, Parish Public Works Director Ken Wheat, Parish Road Work Project Managers Donnell Merritt and Alex Sumrall, and Bogalusa Parks Director Landon Tims. An assessment was initiated by Kates with business owners located in the area.
