On June 28, 2021, Mrs. Carolyn Powell passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Covington. She was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Shinnston, W.Va. Mrs. Powell was a devoted registered nurse, specializing in critical care for 30 years, but her true passion was spending time with her adored grandchildren.

Mrs. Carolyn Powell is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mr. William Allen Powell Sr.; three sons, William Allen (Hope) Powell Jr., Russell (Gloria) Powell and Scott Bryan (Lacey) Powell; 12 grandchildren, Steffany Powell, Michelle Powell, Ashlyn Powell, Shelby Powell, Landyn Powell, Tyler Powell, Emmersyn Powell, Kaiden Powell, Masyn Powell, Dawsyn Powell, Bostyn Powell and Alexa Trusclair; two great-grandchildren, Ko Ueno and Koharu Ueno; and a sister, “Pete” Ketterman Catala.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Dunbar and Robert Ketterman; a sister-in-law, Janet Ketterman; and her parents, Hancel and Pauline Ketterman.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
