Teams are preparing for football season, as there are just over two months from the opening of the 2021 regular season, which is the week of Sept. 3.

One way they prepare is through 7-on-7s.

Franklinton goes against mainly St. Paul’s School with one against Mandeville on Wednesdays throughout June and part of July.

“We came out and competed pretty well today,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “We went to their place a couple of weeks ago and they got after us. We were flat and didn’t execute at a very high level. I talked with our guys about never letting that happen again, and today we competed from start to finish. Zion (Anders) threw the ball very well, he was on time and accurate. We left a few plays out there that we should make, but we will get that cleaned up. Defensively they throw a lot at us in terms of formations and motions, and that will pay dividends down the road. Pass skell helps us tremendously in learning coverage and being able to throw with timing. We look forward to the opportunity to improve next week.”

Franklinton will go against St. Paul’s on Wednesday and again on July 7. The Demons are playing a 7-on-7 tournament at Lakeshore on July 9-10.
