Sister Gail Delores Thompson, a native of Franklinton, was born to the late Elisha Davis Sr. and Ernestine Bell Davis on Oct. 7, 1949. She transitioned on April 18, 2020, at her home in Beaumont, Texas.
Sister Gail joined Bethel Church of Christ Holiness and was baptized at an early age. She later relocated to Beaumont, where she was a member of Christ Mission Temple Church of Christ Holiness, USA.
She was a graduate of Carver High School in New Orleans, and also attended Southern University at New Orleans. Sister Gail worked at Regina Coeli Child Development Center Franklinton Head Start until her early retirement due to illness.
She was married to Elder Arthur L. Thompson and to this union three children were born.
Sister Gail was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a quiet, warm and inviting spirit. Sister Gail was creative, active in church, and loved cooking for loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, LaTroy Thompson, Toya (Luke) Davis and Imana Thompson; one stepdaughter, Lequisha Thompson; one stepson, Garrious Barker; three grandchildren, Jakirion, Kaylin and Khloe; five step-grandchildren; nine great-step-grandchildren; three great-great-step-grandchildren; one aunt, Georgia Q. McCant of Hanford, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Elder Dr. Lenward Thompson; three sisters-in-law, Nicy Davis, Shirley Ann Davis and Doris Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elder Arthur Thompson, father, mother, nine brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, USA, with Bishop Vernon E. Kennebrew officiating. Masks are required.
