Senior centers and meal sites will reopen next Monday, according to officials with the Washington Parish Council on Aging (COA).

The COA announced on its Facebook page that all parish locations will be open starting Monday, June 14. Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays.

Hot meals will not be available until Thursday, July 1.

The COA locations have been closed since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020.

Although they will be open to clients and the general public, sites will still have some COVID precautions in place. They will include:

• All visitors will be asked to submit to a temperature check upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater will not be allowed to enter the facility.
• A designated staff person will conduct a COVID-19 screening for all persons. Anyone answering “yes” to any of the questions, or anyone who exhibits COVID-like symptoms, will not be allowed to enter.
• If a person is not vaccinated, the COA strongly encourages that person to consult with a healthcare provider to assess each individual’s risk and determine if he or she should attend the center. In addition, all non-vaccinated individuals should wear a face covering over the nose and mouth and socially distance at least six feet apart, while indoors. However, face coverings will not be a requirement for entry.

The parish locations include the Bogalusa Senior Center at 603 Willis Ave., the Franklinton Senior Center at 1025 Dobson St., the Pine Nutrition Site at 27164 Louisiana Highway 62, and the Angie Nutrition Site at 30276 Houston St.
