In conjunction with the Department of Children and Family Services, the criminal investigation division of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office recently conducted an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a juvenile by an adult male. The investigation resulted in the arrest Tuesday of Nicholas Glen Mevers, 33, a resident of Avenue J in Bogalusa, according to WPSO Chief Deputy Mike Haley.

Mevers was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on charges of first-degree rape, sexual battery of the infirmed and indecent behavior with a juvenile. He has no record of previous arrests in Washington Parish, Haley said.

“Due to the very sensitive nature of sexual offenses committed on a young child, we can provide no further information,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “I can, though, express my disgust upon learning the details of this grievous offense. Children should always be enveloped in innocence and never subjected to sexual abuse, which can lead to lifetime consequences.”
