Floyd Joseph “Black” Arabie, 69, passed away Monday morning, May 3, 2021, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born in Algiers on July 31, 1951, and grew up in Bridge City. Floyd lived with his family in the Sun community for the last 40 years. He was retired as a pile-driving supervisor after a long career in marine construction. Floyd was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors. He loved his pets, chickens and other barnyard animals. But most especially, Floyd loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise Frickey Arabie; daughter, Brandie Marie Arabie; daughter-in-law, Tricia A. Arabie; grandchildren and spouses, Sr. Airman Joseph C. Arabie, Landon I. Arabie and Jasmine, R. Logan Smith, Paige C. Arabie and Jessie, Gabriel B. Morse and Junior, Krysten H. Arabie, and Rebekah D. Morse; great-grandchildren, Gaston “T-Boy” Morse III, Cypress J. Pierce, Shawn D. Morse and Remington K. Arabie; siblings, Ama Kirkfield, Lawrence Arabie, Lois Guidry, Betty Duhé, Michael Arabie and Ray Arabie; and also numerous beloved nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn I. “Loaf” Arabie; parents, Frank J. Arabie and Elvira Bourgeouis Arabie; brothers, Frank J. Arabie Jr., Adam M. Arabie, Larry P. Arabie, Ernest Arabie and Joachim Arabie; sister, Theresa Thibodeaux Arabie; paternal grandparents, Joachim Paul Arabie and Theresa Martinez Arabie; and maternal grandparents, Joseph D. Bourgeouis and Emma M. Barbier Bourgeouis.

Visitation will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church (19840 Lee Road in Franklinton) on Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8, with the Rev. Derek Dantin and the Rev. Russell Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Arabie, Landon Arabie, Logan Smith, Jason Smith, Wayne Kirkfield, Stephen Crawford and Michael Alphonso. Honorary pallbearers will be Marc Frickey and Dirk Frickey.
