Mildred Oxner Samford was born on Aug. 30, 1944, in Columbia, Miss., and later relocated to Bogalusa where she lived for most of her life. Mildred, affectionately known as “Granny” to those who knew her, passed away peacefully at her home on April 24, 2021.

She is survived by her five children, Janice (Ed) Netto of Mobile, Ala., Jody (Pam) Samford of Mobile, Buffy (Wayne) Mizell of Bogalusa, Tonya Stage (Boyd Jones) of Bogalusa, and Beverly (Rafael) Trevino of Conroe, Texas; two brothers, David (Virgnia) Oxner of Foxworth, Miss., and Eddie (Cindy) Oxner of Foxworth; one sister, Edna Jo Nicholson of Goss, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with two on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David “Jinx” Samford; her parents, John “Samp” and Mariam “Sister” Oxner; five brothers, Lyndell Oxner, Wendell Oxner, Jesse “Polly” Oxner, Jack Oxner and Johnny Oxner; one sister, Abby Gail Oxner; and one great-grandson, Josiah Stage.

Officiating services will be Bro. Larry Lassley.

Visitation was Tuesday, April 27, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, located at 610 Ave. F in Bogalusa. Services will be Wednesday, April 28, starting at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Turnage Chapel Church in Foxworth.
