Franklinton High School’s Jordan McKenzie

Franklinton’s Jordan McKenzie is a baseball player for the Demons.

McKenzie, who is a senior, is a pitcher and shortstop.

McKenzie was second-team all-district infielder his sophomore season.

The majority of last year was cancelled because of the pandemic.

“Jordan is one of the hardest workers to ever come through Demon baseball,” Franklinton coach Jeff Tageant said. “He has worked hard to become an elite player and he deserves all the success he has worked hard for.

What do you enjoy most about playing your sport?

I enjoy my team and we’re really close and have a strong bond. I enjoy the competitiveness because I’m a pretty competitive person myself.

What do you like best about being a student athlete?

I like putting in the work on and off the field and how it translates. You put the work in the classroom and then on the field, it makes you a more well-rounded person.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?

Coach Tageant and my family because they’ve pushed me to be the best I can be and never let me fall short of doing that.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?

Francisco Lindor because he plays the game, has fun and always has a smile on his face. Even though it’s a business, it’s just a game and he has fun.

Favorite team?

Boston Red Sox.

Best thing about living in Washington Parish?

It’s a very close community and everybody supports the sports programs and teams we have. You see people come to the games that have nothing to do with the programs, but they want to support the kids. In Washington Parish, everybody pretty much knows everybody and it’s a really close community.
