Mathew Abram transitioned to his eternal home on Friday, April 16, 2021, at his residence. He was born to the late Arthur and Cora Abram on July 19, 1927, in Bogalusa. Mathew was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Drive-through viewing will be Friday, April 23, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 24, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas Hart, pastor, officiating.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Mathew (Julie) Abram Jr. M.D., of Baton Rouge; Arthur Glynn (Sharon) Abram of Bogalusa; two daughters, Robin (Anthony) Stephens of Shreveport, Tonita Spikes of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Mathew Abram III, MPH, Ph.D., of Stockholm, Sweden, Leland Abram, M.D., of Albuquerque, N.M., John “J.C.” Abram, BS, of Washington, D.C., Shemay Roberts, Derrick Abram, Demarcus Spikes, Vick Brister of Bogalusa, Asia Reiford of Hammond, Justin Washington of Atlanta, Ga., Cassandra Tate and Jerod Spikes of Baton Rouge, and Shawanda Brister of Fort Worth, Texas; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Abram; his parents, Arthur and Cora Abram; one daughter, Theresa Brister; and one sister, Bobbie Abram.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
