She was preceded in death by her parents, Junest Ponsen, her father, and her mother, Lela Waters; her youngest brother, Gary Ponsen; and her oldest daughter, Tina Alfonso.

We all knew and loved her as our “Memaw.” Jackie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had many family and friend she loved and cared about deeply. Jackie’s passions were gardening and doing puzzles on her free time when she was not with family and friends. Her favorite animal was a green tree frog as we all knew with her house covered in them and her favorite eye shadow she would always wear when she would get dressed up would be a bright green that we all loved. She will be deeply missed and as she would tell us, “I am not leaving you … I am just going home.” She is loved by so many we will live on by all the memories we share and cherish together.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend services at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Wednesday, April 21. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.
