J.D. (Pee Wee) Godbolt, Jr. was born to the late J.D. Godbolt, Sr. and Louise Smith Godbolt on Dec. 21, 1954, in New Orleans, LA.

He passed in peace at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA on April 8, 2021.

J.D. was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church since childhood. He loved his children, grandchildren and family members. J.D. enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a loving and caring man who always joked around with the people he worked with and spent time with during his life.

J.D. graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1973 and immediately began working at the Bogalusa Paper Mill, formerly known as Crown Zellerbach, Gaylord, Temple Inland and the current International Paper for 45 years. He humbly retired in 2018.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Passion Godbolt Cotton, Natasha (Marquel) Oatis and Justin (Sharmika) Godbolt all of Bogalusa, LA; his grandchildren, Marquel Oatis II, Justin Godbolt, Jr. and Jadyn Godbolt; one sister, Shirley Holloway and one brother, Lamont Godbolt, both of Bogalusa, LA; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Spann Godbolt of Bogalusa, LA and Elaine Sartin of Baltimore, MD; uncle, Alfred Brown of New Orleans, LA; goddaughter, Jetaun Godbolt and special niece, Rachelle (William) Stewart both of Bogalusa, LA; special nephews, Rashad Godbolt of Houston, TX, Parrish Holloway, Rodafa (Cynthia) Godbolt, Roderick Godbolt and Corey Pearson all of Bogalusa, LA; special friend, Earnest Martin of Varnado, LA and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline S. Godbolt, his parents, J.D. Godbolt, Sr. and Louise Smith Godbolt; sister, Barbara Godbolt Norris; brothers, Ellis Godbolt and Benny Godbolt; nephews, Ellis Godbolt, Jr., Tarras Godbolt and Gralin Godbolt; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Sartin and Donald F. Norris; aunts, Johnny Mae Fields, Hazel York and Mammie Martin and other relatives.

Funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, April 17, at 2 p.m. Rev. Dr. Keith Cowart will be officiating.
