Bogalusa’s Kalik Foster and Varnado’s Jarvis James were victorious in events at Tylertown Invitational in Mississippi on March 19.

Foster won the discus, while James topped the 800 meters.

Foster threw the discus 97 feet, 8 inches. North Pikes Jayden Taylor was second at 88-9. Bogalusa’s Mikh Sartin was third at 87-8.

James ran the 800 in 2 minutes, 19 seconds. McComb’s Donovan Hurst was second in 2:21.

Bogalusa and Varnado were the only teams from Washington Parish in the meet.

Varnado’s Quovadis Bickham was second in the triple jump with a distance of 38-10, as Washington Parish athletes took the second-through-fifth spots. Teammate Devonte Magee was third with 38-8, followed by Bogalusa teammates Xavier Adams and Raheem Roberts with jumps of 37-8.25 and 37-4 respectively. Columbia’s Devron Cloyd won the event at 42-8.

Besides Adams, four more locals were fourth, including Varnado teammates Zamoriyon Washington, McLean Burns and Bickham.

Washingon was fourth in the 100, clocking in at 11.9 seconds. Tylertown’s Jeremiah Dillon won in 10.96.

Burns ran fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:12. Tylertown’s Montague Lenoir topped the event in 52.92.

Bickham tied McComb in the high jump, with both clearing the bar at 5-6. Cloyd and McComb’s Jameer Lewis tied at 6-0.

Two more locals were fifth in events, including Varnado’s Malik Patterson and Bogalusa’s Jayden Brice.

Patterson was fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.18. Tylertown’s Jordan Anthony won in 22.59.

Brice was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 34-3. Varnado’s Christian Fox was eighth, with Foster ninth, Patterson 10th and Varnado’s Tyran Holmes 13th at 33-1, 33-0, 32-5.5 and 28-3, respectively. Columbia’s Jaheim Oatis topped the event at 44-5.

James came in sixth place in the long jump with Magee eighth and Adams 10th with distances of 17-4.25, 16-9 and 16-0. Cloyd’s jump of 19-6 won it.
