Lady Demons softball win games over Loranger, St. Scholastica

Franklinton’s Lady Demons were victorious over Loranger and St. Scholastica Academy in games that were held on Tuesday and Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Lady Demons recorded 13 hits in an 11-1 victory over Loranger in five innings at home.

Skylar Branch continued her solid season with three hits that included a homer, double and single with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Branch missed hitting for the cycle by just a triple.

Khristian Schexnider doubled twice and singled with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Albanie Fussell doubled twice, scored two runs and had three runs batted in.

Ashlyn Welch tripled and scored two runs.

Brylie Fowler singled, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Bailey Brooks and Missouri Varnado both singled and had an RBI.

Aleigha Fussell doubled.

Fussell threw one shutout inning and allowed one hit with one strikeout and no walks.

Branch pitched four innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

On Thursday, Franklinton captured its District 9-4A opener, 11-1, over St. Scholastica Academy in a road contest in six innings.

Fowler homered, drove in two and scored two runs in a 2-for-3 day.

Welch posted two hits that included a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Albanie Fussell singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored two runs.

Varnado tallied two hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Schexnider singled, scored a run and drove one home.

Brooks singled and scored a run.

Branch drove in two runs, while Aayah Faour scored a run.

Aleigha Fussell pitched all six innings, allowing no earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Franklinton’s next games will be on Saturday, March 13 in the Jewel Sumner Tournament. The games will start at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
