FHS’s Brown captures javelin in Ponchatoula Invitational

Franklinton’s Caleb Brown was victorious in the javelin at the Ponchatoula Invitational that took place on Thursday.

Brown won the javelin with a throw of 141 feet, 3 inches. Teammate Khalid Waliagha came in sixth at 107-1. Northshore’s Mathew Cleland was second at 126-9.

Brown was also seventh in the long jump with a distance of 18-11. Covington’s Ian Goodley topped the event with a jump of 20-3.

Franklinton was the only team from Washington Parish in the meet.

The Demons 4×100-meter relay team came in sixth, clocking in at 50.6 seconds. The team featured Timarion Partman, Ahmod Partman, Chrustiun Martin and Bryan Williams. Slidell won in 45.56.

Mason Freeman and James Slade were seventh and 12th in the shot put with distances of 36-8 and 31-5. Northshore’s Spencer Woodruff’s 43-1 bested the event.

Slade and Wyatt Lambert were seventh and 10th for the discus at 88-6 and 77-1. Cleland won with a distance of 119-3.

Williams and Timarion Partman ran 10th and 13th in the 100 with times of 12.19 and 12.76. Slidell’s Farron Lewis won at 11.36.

Andrew Crain was 10th in the 800, running in 2 minutes, 31 seconds. Northshore’s Mason Appleton won in 2:05.

Martin ran 11th in the 400 at 1:03. St. Paul’s School’s Nathan Aupied won in 52.65.

Crain was 13th in the 1,600 with a time of 5:51. St. Paul’s School’s Evan Pardo clocked a 4:33 to win.

Franklinton’s next meet will take place on Friday at Jewel Sumner.
