Franklinton’s Lady Demons have eight powerlifters headed to the state meet.

Tayte Landry, Angel Dufrense, Arielle Magee, Shalen Tomeny, Grace Mitchell, Ava Roshto, Hannah Spears and Marleigh Schilling all made the state meet after qualifying through the 2021 South Regional that took place on Feb. 27 at Pope John Paul II.

To reach state, the lifter had to either win their weight class at the regional meet or come in the top 10 of their division, but when somebody won their regional, that counted as a spot toward state, so if somebody from a Division I school won at regionals, there were nine spots left for state. There were six regions.

Franklinton was the only team from Washington Parish in the meet and is in Division II.

Landry is the second seed in the 198.3-pound weight class and Tomeny is seventh. Landry was fourth in regionals, while Tomeny was ninth with totals of 660 and 480 respectively. Landry squatted 280, benched 115 and deadlifted 265. Tomeny squatted 165, benched 100 and deadlifted 215. Slidell’s Bria Dimitri won with a 905.

Dufrene is the fourth seed in the 97s. She was fourth in the regionals with a 320 total. She squatted 120, benched 80 and deadlifted 120. Northshore’s Brennan Fallon won at 655.

Magee is the sixth seed in the 220.3s. She was seventh in regionals at 500 total. She squatted 160, benched 95 and deadlifted 245. Northlake Christian School’s Olivia Candies won with a 920.

Mitchell and Spears are eighth and ninth seeds respectively in the 123.5s. The two were seventh and eighth in regionals at 445 and 430 total. Mitchell squatted 150, benched 85 and deadlifted 210. Spears squatted 135, benched 70 and deadlifted 225. Northlake Christian School’s Savannah Burke won with a 745.

Roshto is the ninth seed in the 132.3s. She was 10th in regionals with a 455. Roshto squatted 135, benched 85 and deadlifted 235. Covington’s Katelyn Caillouet won with a 695.

Schilling is the 10th seed in the 148.8s. She was ninth in regionals with a 510. Schilling squatted 210, benched 90 and deadlifted 210. Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Academy’s Janee Kovacs won at 930.

Also competing for Franklinton, Isabella Lambert, who was 11th in regionals for the 148.8s, had a 405 with a 160 squat, 75 bench and 170 deadlift.

Kloie Altentaler started the meet, but was injured on her second squat attempt when she pulled her hamstring.
