Richard Vernon “R.V.” Rogers, 80, a resident of Pine, died Sunday evening Feb. 28, 2021, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was retired after a 33-year career with the road crew of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. R.V. loved to plant a large vegetable garden each year and take care of his beef cows. He enjoyed spending his time working around his property. He was a longtime member of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Yvonne Bennett Rogers of Pine; son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Stefanie Rogers of Pine; grandchildren and spouses, Nikki and Brandon Crain of Pine, and Dusty and Talena Rogers of Thomas; great-grandchildren, Emma Crain, Luke Crain, Payton Rogers and Presley Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Willie Fay and Bobbie Rogers of Pine; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Kevin Garner of the Crain’s Creek Community; and also numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Rogers and Emma Dykes Rogers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randolph and Thelma Bennett; and other family members.

Visitation will be at Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 3, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, with Elder Mark Hobgood and Elder Lerand Hunt officiating. Face coverings and COVID-19 restrictions will be followed by all those that attend the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Rogers, Brandon Crain, Luke Crain, Robin Burch, Alan Boyd, Woody Hebert, Eric Pierce and Zack Hobgood.
