Franklinton starts season 3-1, Pine opens 2-2 in softball

Franklinton’s Lady Demons started the season with a 3-1 record, while Pine’s Lady Raiders began 2-2 in softball.

Franklinton played in the Albany Tournament last Saturday and won both games.

The first was 11-1 over Loranger.

Skylar Branch hit a homer, drove in three runs and scored two runs as part of a three-hit day.

Brylie Fowler had three hits that included a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Ashlyn Welch singled three times and scored two runs.

Albanie Fussell singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run.

Missouri Varnado singled twice and had an RBI.

Aleigha Fussell tallied two hits that included a double.

Aayah Faour went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Khristian Schexnider singled and scored a run.

Bailey Brooks posted a hit and a run batted in.

Caylin Turnage scored a run.

Aleigha Fussell allowed no hits in two shutout innings with four strikeouts and no walks.

Branch went three frames, allowing one unearned run on four hits with a strikeout and no walks.

The next game was an 8-5 win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Branch recorded three hits and an RBI.

Welch singled, doubled and scored two runs.

Schexnider and Albanie Fussell both went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored each.

Brooks tallied two hits and two runs batted in.

Fowler singled and scored two runs.

Aleigha Fussell drove in a run.

On Wednesday, Franklinton was defeated by Doyle, 12-0, at home.

The Lady Demons had two hits.

Welch had both hits with one being a double.

On Thursday, Franklinton won its game over Pine, 7-3, at home.

Fowler recorded two hits, both were doubles, with two RBIs and a run scored.

Schexnider singled twice and scored a run.

Branch tallied two hits and a run scored.

Aleigha Fussell went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Albanie Fussell and Brooks both singled, scored a run and drove one in.

Varnado singled.

Welch scored a run and Faour scored a run and drove in a run.

Aleigha Fussell allowed two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in a complete-game performance.

The Lady Raiders hit two home runs.

Makia Clark and Kiyasha Clark both homered for the Lady Raiders. Both players posted two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Makia and Kiyasha are twin sisters.

Addyson Phelps singled twice and scored a run.

Kirbee Magee singled.

Ana Thomas scored a run.

Pine split its first two games.

The first was a 10-9 win over Springfield at home on Feb. 22.

Magee missed hitting for the cycle by only a triple. She singled, doubled, homered and scored two runs.

Alyssa Phelps recorded a double and two singles with a run scored.

Addyson Phelps tallied two singles.

Dillon Sumrall singled and scored two runs.

Makia Clark doubled twice, tripled once and scored three runs.

Lilly Crain singled, doubled and scored a run.

Kiyasha Clark doubled.

Alexa Lee and Bailey both singled.

The next was an 8-7 loss to St. Scholastica Academy on the road on Feb 23.

Alyssa Phelps posted three singles, a double and four runs scored.

Addyson Phelps singled and scored a run.

Sumrall doubled and scored a run.

Makia Clark tallied three singles.

Magee posted a single and a run scored.

Kiyasha Clark doubled twice.

Pine went to 2-2 this season on Monday with a 14-1 win over Salmen at home.

Addilyn Nobles doubled, drove in three runs and scored a run.

Alyssa Phelps posted a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Addilyn Phelps posted a hit, two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Sumrall doubled and scored two runs.

Kiyasha Clark singled, had two RBIs and scored three runs.

Makia Clark doubled and drove in a run.

Magee posted a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Thomas tallied a hit, drove in two runs and scored two runs.

Brooks had an RBI.

Winning pitcher Alyssa Phelps threw all five innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit with six strikeouts and one walk.

Pine’s next game will take place Thursday with a road game against Loranger. Franklinton’s next game will take place March 3 on the road against Ponchatoula.
