Mt. Hermon posts 1-1 record in 1st 2 games of season

Mt. Hermon School’s Yellow Jackets are off to a 1-1 record to start the baseball season.

Both games were at home.

The Yellow Jackets won their opener, 23-0, over Varnado.

Mt. Hermon’s Brady Smith tripled and drove in two runs.

Jordan Harrison, Jared Maples, Josh Bennett and Curtis Sandifer posted RBI singles.

Trent Wilson and Bennett threw two scoreless innings each.

Maples pitched a scoreless inning.

Kevin Moses and Everette Peters had one hit each.

On Thursday, Mt. Hermon was defeated by Jewel Sumner, 7-1, at home.

Wilson tallied a hit and an RBI.

Mt. Hermon’s next game will take place on Monday against Amite with first pitch at 5:30 p.m. Varnado will play again on Monday against Jewel Sumner on the road at 5 p.m.
