On Tuesday, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Sgt. David Cupp arrested Dustin Keith Stein, 38, a resident of Louisiana Highway 436, and jailed him on charges of domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment, according to WPSO Chief Deputy Mike Haley.

Haley said that Stein has at least eight previous arrests in Washington Parish. In 2013, he was arrested for domestic abuse with strangulation, false imprisonment while armed with a weapon, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and two counts of simple battery. He was arrested in 2014 for failure to appear in court. In 2017, he was arrested again for domestic abuse with strangulation, false imprisonment while armed with a weapon and battery.

In 2018, Stein was arrested for criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. Later in 2018 he was arrested again, charged with battery of a dating partner, battery of the infirmed, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of failure to honor a written promise. In early 2019, he was arrested for domestic abuse battery and later in 2019 he was arrested for contempt of court. In January, he was arrested for the eighth time, charged with possession of illegal drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property and a traffic offense.

“Sounds like this young man is determined to go to the penitentiary,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “I don’t know what motivates him, but it certainly isn’t love and respect for others. I appreciate Sgt. Cupp’s quick response to protect this young lady from further harm.”
