Pine topped by Jonesboro-Hodge

Pine’s Lady Raiders were topped by Jonesboro-Hodge, 40-36, in the bi-district round of the Class 2A state playoffs on Sunday at Weston High School.

Alyssa Phelps scored nine points to lead Pine. She made a 3-pointer.

Diamond Dawson and Haleigh Temples posted six each.

Hailey Martin tallied five that included a 3-pointer.

Kiyasha Clark and Makia Clark put up four each.

Sarah Lyons had two.

No. 25 Pine went 7-6 this season.

The Lady Raiders had two seniors in Kiyasha Clark and Makia Clark.

“They were great leaders for the team. They helped me in my transition to coaching girls basketball,” Pine coach Brett Cooper said.

Eighth-seeded Jonesboro-Hodge plays against ninth-seeded Rayville after press time in the regional round. Rayville defeated No. 24 Kentwood, 59-9, in the bi-district round.
