3 locals top weight classes in powerlifting meet at Salmen

Pine’s Braeden Arceneaux and Franklinton teammates Jaylin Magee and Shelton Jenkins won their weight classes in the 2021 Salmen High School Invitational boys weightlifting meet.

Arceneaux won the 114-pound weight class with lifts of a 270 squat, 120 bench and 325 deadlift for a total of 715 pounds. Fontainebleau’s Chris Martin was second with 585.

Arceneaux was the only lifter from Pine, as the rest of the lifters from Washington Parish were Franklinton powerlifters.

Magee won the 181s. He lifted 1,230 pounds with a 455 squat, 275 bench and 500 deadlift. Caleb Johnson was second at 1,110. Franklinton’s Ethan Sharpe came in fifth. He squatted 380, benched 225 and deadlift 335 for 940 total.

Jenkins captured the 198s with 1,310 total. Jenkins squatted 500, benched 310 and deadlifted 500. Fontainebleau’s Adam Guttuso was second at 1,235.
James Slade and Adam Galloway were both second.

Slade was second in the 242s. He squatted 315, benched 210 and deadlift 430 for 955. Salmen’s L’Tank’ West won at 970.

Galloway, who is in the 275s, posted a 1,010 with a 360 squat, 275 bench and 375 deadlift. McDonogh 35’s George Jackson won with an 1,135.

Nate Lebo was third in the 148s. Lebo tallied a 475. He squatted 155, bencheded 85 and deadlifted 235. Slidell’s Kayden Dugas posted a 775 to win.

Andre Callais and Ryan Barber were seventh and 12th respectively for the 165s.

Callais posted a 750 with a 275 squat, 205 bench and a 270 deadlift. Barber tallied a 445. He squatted 145, benched 100 and deadlift 200. Fontainebleau’s Emery Rhoades won with a 1,020.

Kaden Boone, who is in the SHW division, benched 125 and deadlifted 165. Salmen’s Dwayne Coleman won at 1,240.

Franklinton will be back in action on Feb. 13 at the Abbeville RAW Invitational Meet. Arceneaux’s next meet will be the regionals on Feb. 26-27 at Pope John Paul II.
